Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised University in India.
Technical Qualification
Basic knowledge of computer operations along with a minimum computer typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.).
Age Limit (as on 01-09-2026)

Examination
The selection of Junior Court Assistants is a four-stage process:

Examination Syllabus

General English
Reading comprehension, grammar, error spotting, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, vocabulary.
General Aptitude
Number series, percentages, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, time and work, simple arithmetic, reasoning (analogy, coding-decoding, series, direction sense, blood relations).
General Knowledge
Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, science, static GK, important days, awards and books.
Constitution of India – Judiciary Provisions
Supreme Court and High Courts: composition, appointment and removal of judges, jurisdiction (original, appellate, advisory, writ), subordinate courts, and related Articles.
Supreme Court Rules, 2013
Filing procedure, registry functions, petitions and appeals, listing of cases, and general procedural rules.
Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961
Conditions of service, duties, conduct rules, leave and discipline provisions applicable to court staff.
Computer Knowledge
Computer fundamentals, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, operating systems, internet and email, keyboard shortcuts, basic cyber safety.
Descriptive Paper
Comprehension passage, precis writing and essay writing in English.
Language of Examination
The typing test and the descriptive paper are conducted in English. Candidates should confirm the language of the MCQ paper in the official notification before applying.

How to Prepare for the Examination
1. Know the Pattern First
There are four separate stages with their own qualifying marks. Plan your time for each, not just the MCQ paper.
2. Focus on the Scoring Sections
Judiciary provisions, Supreme Court Rules, Service Rules and Computer Knowledge account for 50 of the 100 MCQs. These are very specific topics, so candidates who study them well gain a clear edge.
3. Build Typing Speed Early
You need 35 w.p.m. with at most 3% mistakes. Practise daily for 20–30 minutes on a computer keyboard in English.
4. Practise Descriptive Writing
Write one precis and one essay every week, and practise comprehension passages within the time limit.
5. Do Not Ignore the Interview
The interview carries 25 marks with 13 as the qualifying mark. Many candidates lose their final selection here, so start preparing early.

Important Instructions for Exam Day
- Download your admit card once released and check name, photo, roll number and exam centre.

- Reach the exam centre well before the reporting time; late entry is generally not allowed.
- Mobile phones, smart watches and electronic gadgets are not permitted inside the exam hall.
- Read the instructions on the paper carefully and manage your time across sections.
- For the typing test, stay calm, type accurately and keep mistakes within 3%.
